The Mat chair, fully upholstered in beechwood, by Normann Copenhagen This is a shell chair for the dining table, kitchen, or home office. The hemp shell and beechwood legs give it a calm, natural look, while the fabric upholstery softens the shape.

design & material

The Danish design studio Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen has developed Mat over several years. The name stands for "Materials": The hemp shell is created using a specially developed compression process, and the collection also incorporates seagrass, a type of algae. According to the manufacturer, the environmental impact is lower than the industry standard. The chair is designed for disassembly and recycling. BauParts can therefore be reused in new production processes. The frame is made of FSC™ certified beech plywood.

Die Mat-Chair-Kollektion umfasst eine Hanfschale, die in einem eigens entwickelten Kompressionsverfahren gefertigt wird. Das Gestell von Mat Chair besteht aus FSC™ zertifiziertem (FSC-C163461) Buchensperrholz und Buchensperrholz aus anderen kontrollierten Quellen oder aus pulverbeschichtetem Stahl in den zwei Farboptionen Cream oder Black. Die Barversionen mit Holzgestell verfügen über einen Fussring aus pulverbeschichtetem Stahl für zusätzlichen Komfort und Stabilität. Die Schale wird aus einer einzigartigen Mischung aus 75% Hanffasern gefertigt, während die restlichen 25% aus einem eigens entwickelten, recycelbaren Bico-Bindemittel bestehen. Die Seaweed-Variante besteht aus 69% Hanffasern, 6% Seegras (Seaweed) und 25% Bindemittel. Bei Rückgabe an Normann Copenhagen am Ende ihrer Lebensdauer können sowohl Schale als auch Gestell recycelt werden.
