design & material

The Danish design studio Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen developed Mat, which is manufactured in Denmark. The name stands for "Materials": hemp and seagrass, a type of algae, are considered highly renewable and durable by the manufacturer. The shell is created using a specially developed compression process and sits on powder-coated steel legs. Mat is designed to be disassembled and recyclable, and the fibers give the chair a natural look and feel.

The seat height of 65 cm is suitable for kitchen counters and islands approximately 90 cm high. The fabric front upholstery adds a soft touch; you can choose between the fabrics Hallingdal 110, Remix 133, and Ultra 41599. Weighing between 5.1 and 5.3 kg, the chair is easy to move.

Variants & series

Mat is available in 14 variations: beige-grey, yellow, grey, and mustard yellow, as well as the aforementioned fabrics – so you can find the perfect shade. Die Mat Chair Kollektion umfasst eine Hanfschale, die in einem einzigartig entwickelten Kompressionsverfahren gefertigt und auf pulverbeschichtete Stahlbeine montiert wird. Die Schale wird aus einer einzigartigen Mischung von 75% Hanffasern gefertigt, während die restlichen 25% aus einem speziell entwickelten, recycelbaren Bico-Bindemittel bestehen. Die Seaweed-Variante besteht aus 69% Hanffasern, 6% Seegras (Seaweed) und 25% Bindemittel. Wird sie am Ende ihrer Lebensdauer an Normann Copenhagen zurückgegeben, können sowohl Schale als auch Gestell recycelt werden.
