The Mat bar stool by Normann Copenhagen This is a shell chair for kitchen counters, islands, or bars. Its shell is made of hemp fibers and seagrass, and the front upholstery adds a soft touch.

design & material

The design studio Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen designed Mat – short for "Materials" – after years of development. The shell is created using a specially developed compression process from hemp fibers and seagrass, a type of algae, and sits on lacquered steel legs. According to the manufacturer, the chair is designed for disassembly and recycling, allowing the components to be reused in new productions. It is manufactured in Denmark.

comfort & function

The front cushion provides a softer surface for the seat than the bare shell. Weighing only 5.1 to 5.3 kg, you can easily move the chair close to the counter.

Die Mat Chair Kollektion umfasst eine Hanfschale, die in einem einzigartig entwickelten Kompressionsverfahren gefertigt und auf pulverbeschichtete Stahlbeine montiert wird. Die Schale wird aus einer einzigartigen Mischung von 75% Hanffasern gefertigt, während die restlichen 25% aus einem speziell entwickelten, recycelbaren Bico-Bindemittel bestehen. Die Seaweed-Variante besteht aus 69% Hanffasern, 6% Seegras (Seaweed) und 25% Bindemittel. Wird sie am Ende ihrer Lebensdauer an Normann Copenhagen zurückgegeben, können sowohl Schale als auch Gestell recycelt werden.
