The Mat Barstool by Normann Copenhagen This is a fully upholstered bar stool for counters, kitchen islands, or bar tables. The hemp shell is created using a specially developed compression process, giving it a calm, natural appearance.

design & material

Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen from Denmark developed Mat after years of research. "Mat" stands for "Materials": The collection uses hemp and seagrass, a type of algae. According to the manufacturer, these materials are less harmful to the environment than is typical in the industry. The frame is made of FSC™-certified beech plywood (FSC-C163461) in cream. Mat is designed for disassembly and recycling.

Mission & combination

The manufacturer envisions Mat chairs in restaurants, hotel lobbies, and educational institutions, as well as in homes. Place two or three chairs side by side at the kitchen island. Beige and cream tones create a calming effect next to wood and natural tones.

Die Mat-Chair-Kollektion umfasst eine Hanfschale, die in einem eigens entwickelten Kompressionsverfahren gefertigt wird. Das Gestell von Mat Chair besteht aus FSC™ zertifiziertem (FSC-C163461) Buchensperrholz und Buchensperrholz aus anderen kontrollierten Quellen oder aus pulverbeschichtetem Stahl in den zwei Farboptionen Cream oder Black. Die Barversionen mit Holzgestell verfügen über einen Fussring aus pulverbeschichtetem Stahl für zusätzlichen Komfort und Stabilität. Die Schale wird aus einer einzigartigen Mischung aus 75% Hanffasern gefertigt, während die restlichen 25% aus einem eigens entwickelten, recycelbaren Bico-Bindemittel bestehen. Die Seaweed-Variante besteht aus 69% Hanffasern, 6% Seegras (Seaweed) und 25% Bindemittel. Bei Rückgabe an Normann Copenhagen am Ende ihrer Lebensdauer können sowohl Schale als auch Gestell recycelt werden.
