"Mat" stands for "Materials": The seat shell is made of hemp fibers, and in the second version, also of seagrass, a type of algae. Both raw materials are considered renewable and durable and define the look: You can see and feel the natural structure. The legs are made of lacquered steel, and the product is manufactured in Denmark.

Die Mat-Chair-Kollektion umfasst eine Hanfschale, die in einem eigens entwickelten Kompressionsverfahren gefertigt und auf pulverbeschichtete Stahlbeine montiert wird. Die Schale wird aus einer einzigartigen Mischung aus 75% Hanffasern gefertigt, während die restlichen 25% aus einem eigens entwickelten, recycelbaren Bico-Bindemittel bestehen. Die Seaweed-Variante besteht aus 69% Hanffasern, 6% Seegras (Seaweed) und 25% Bindemittel. Bei Rückgabe an Normann Copenhagen am Ende ihrer Lebensdauer können sowohl Schale als auch Gestell recycelt werden.
