MARBLE & TERRAZZO Marble and terrazzo are living materials and can therefore vary in color, texture, and marbling. Calcite and sand pits are two natural features that indicate the authenticity of marble. Calcite looks like crushed crystals and is formed when limestone solidifies from the water inside the stone. Sand pits are air pockets created during the stone's formation and appear like small pits or bubbles on the surface. Like grains and streaks, sand grains and calcite are what make marble unique. No two stones are alike. Marble is a delicate and porous material that is sensitive to liquids, moisture, and dirt. Therefore, you must take extra care when using and maintaining the stone. We recommend treating the marble with Leather Master's "Protect Marble & Stone." Another alternative is to apply a thin layer of paraffin/white oil to the tabletop. Let the oil soak in for a while, then wipe it off and polish. For daily care, clean with a damp, soft cloth and normal soapy water. Any spills must be wiped up immediately. - When wiping with just a tea towel and tap water, small water rings may remain when dried. - Acidic limescale solvents attack marble, as it is made of limestone. - Wine and lemon are also acidic liquids that attack marble. STEEL Keep in mind that steel is a material that can rust if exposed to water and moisture for extended periods. Paint or other finishing treatments are what keep rust at bay, so it is important not to damage the coating. Solvents should not be used on painted or varnished steel, as this will dissolve the surface and expose it to rust. For daily care, clean with a soft cloth and soapy water. Always wipe the surface dry afterwards, avoiding excess water. LINEN Since all fabrics fade in the sun, be careful not to expose the furniture to direct sunlight. Remove stains immediately. Do not rub, but gently absorb with a cloth. If the stains persist, use a stain remover, testing first on a less visible area of the fabric. Linen can be hand-washed or machine-washed, but keep in mind that the material may shrink. Always allow it to drip dry. LIGHTING Our lamps are intended for indoor use in dry, clean environments. Never expose the lamp to water, moisture, or other liquids. Clean your lamp with a dry, soft cloth. If the bulb becomes too hot, unplug it and let it cool before inserting a new bulb.
