The Hyg Chair in Gray Oak by Normann Copenhagen is a masterpiece of Danish design, created by Simon Legald. The Hyg series was first introduced in 2018 and originally included a two-seater sofa, an armchair, and a footstool. In 2020, the series was expanded to include the Hyg Chair and a bar stool, both of which retain the characteristic features of the lounge series.

Simon Legald explains the philosophy behind the Hyg chair

: “People sitting together, having deep conversations, and eating together—that, to me, is the essence of hygge. It therefore made sense for the Hyg series to provide a setting for this kind of experience as well. The feeling of hygge isn’t just linked to the visual experience of the design—it encompasses the entire spectrum of the senses. A great deal of effort went into designing the chair to offer the body rest and support—so that it’s simply comfortable to sit in.”
