The Mat armchair is the result of years of research and development conducted by the renowned Danish design studio Foersom. & Hiort-Lorenzen. The chair's seat shell is made from hemp and seagrass, a type of algae. These materials are not only environmentally friendly, but also give the chair a natural aesthetic and feel.

A closed life cycle

The Mat collection was developed with the aim of enabling a completely closed-loop life cycle. The components of the Mat armchair can be disassembled and recycled for reuse in new production cycles. This makes the chair a sustainable choice for environmentally conscious consumers.

The chair base is available in powder-coated steel in black or cream, as well as in beech wood. Die Mat-Chair-Kollektion umfasst eine Hanfschale, die in einem eigens entwickelten Kompressionsverfahren gefertigt wird. Das Gestell von Mat Chair besteht aus FSC™ zertifiziertem (FSC-C163461) Buchensperrholz und Buchensperrholz aus anderen kontrollierten Quellen oder aus pulverbeschichtetem Stahl in den zwei Farboptionen Cream oder Black. Die Barversionen mit Holzgestell verfügen über einen Fussring aus pulverbeschichtetem Stahl für zusätzlichen Komfort und Stabilität. Die Schale wird aus einer einzigartigen Mischung aus 75% Hanffasern gefertigt, während die restlichen 25% aus einem eigens entwickelten, recycelbaren Bico-Bindemittel bestehen. Die Seaweed-Variante besteht aus 69% Hanffasern, 6% Seegras (Seaweed) und 25% Bindemittel. Bei Rückgabe an Normann Copenhagen am Ende ihrer Lebensdauer können sowohl Schale als auch Gestell recycelt werden.
